City of Pembroke

City of Pembroke

Pembroke, the county seat of Bryan County, was incorporated August 23, 1905. The birth of Pembroke is attributable to the construction of the Seaboard Railroad line in the late 1800s. The first resident of the town (which was founded in 1890, although not incorporated until 1905) was the railroad construction foreman who lived in a caboose on the railroad siding. That caboose is present today in the city park downtown.
